On January 1, 2019, Karen Smith became the interim executive director at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. She previously was the Quality Assurance Nurse Manager/Infection Preventionist/Healthcare Supervisor.
She replaced Mike Rajewski, who is transitioning to the position of executive director at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, Kan. – a Presbyterian Manor of Mid-America community.
Smith has been a team member of Sterling Presbyterian Manor since March 2015. Prior to joining the Sterling Presbyterian Manor team, she was employed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kan., as Quality Management Data Review Analyst.
“With the recent change in leadership, we saw an opportunity to find an interim director that was already familiar with Sterling Presbyterian Manor. Karen has been part of the team for nearly four years,” said Bill Taylor, COO of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. “In addition, Karen’s knowledge of the community, residents and staff will make this transition seamless.”
Karen’s education includes a Master’s of Healthcare Leadership, from Friends University, Wichita, in 2015; a Bachelor’s of Arts in Hospitality, Meeting and Travel Administration, from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1989; and a Registered Nurse Associate's of Science Degree, from Hutchinson Community College Hutchinson in 2005.
Sterling Presbyterian Manor is a member of the Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America network of 17 senior living communities and two Heart and Soul Hospices located in Kansas and Missouri.
